Jaguar XE 2.0 litre diesel Ingenium engine – from 99g/km
Unlike the new Land Rover Discovery Sport – which makes do with the current outsourced 2.2 litre diesel engine – the new Jaguar XE is getting JLR’s all-new range of Ingenium engines from launch. Now, with the proper debut of the XE just a week away, Jaguar is happy to share a bit more detail on the XE’s new engines. Built at Jaguar’s new engine plant – in which JLR has invested £500 million – the new Ingenium engines are a clean-sheet design, as light and efficient as possible and capable of delivering an impressive blend of power and torque.
New car registrations at five-year high September 2013
Despite the UK economy being in the doldrums for much of the past five years, new car registrations have recovered well ahead of the curve and still seem to be unstoppable. September saw new car registrations hit 403,136 – the highest figure for five and a half years – and the first time since 2008 new car registrations have broken the 400k barrier. We’ve covered the reasons before – pre-reg cars, dealer discounts and even PPI payouts – but car registrations are certainly continuing to give buoyancy to a recovery that’s still fragile.
The Goodwood Moving Motor Show
Yesterday we toddled along to Goodwood to see the set up for this year’s Festival of Speed and to have a look at the Moving Motor Show in action for the first time. We also – courtesy of Jaguar, who had invited us for the day – got an early drive up the hillclimb-based circuit that forms part of the Moving Motor Show’s appeal for the lucky ones who got the opportunity to take the wheel of one of the impressive bunch of cars on display. And it was an impressive bunch, with everything from the Toyota Auris Hybrid to the Rolls Royce Phantom DHC via the Audi R8 and the new Jaguar XJ on offer to drive.
